A film based on Stephen King’s book “The Fog”. The director was Frank Darabont, and many viewers liked the movie for the unexpected ending of the film.

The fact is that a thick and impenetrable fog descended on the city, through which only terrifying shadows of extraterrestrial organisms were visible. However, soon the people are covered with a wave of panic: someone wants to get out of the supermarket, someone starts Orthodox sermons, convincing the frightened people that God's punishment has descended on them, and someone is trying to come up with ways to survive.
9. Exorcist | 1973
The slogan of the film says that this is the worst movie of all time. In the center of the plot is a famous actress and her daughter. For unknown reasons, the girl begins to behave strangely and even frighteningly. Mother tries to find help, turning first to the doctors, and then to the priest.
Doctors say that the girl is mentally ill, but they cannot determine the diagnosis and prescribe treatment. The priest is convinced that the body of the girl was captured by the devil and offers a rite of exile.
8. Baby Rosemary | 1968
The director of the film was Roman Polanski, and the film’s syllable asks the viewer to pray for Rosemary’s child.
The plot focuses on a young Wodehouse family who are trying to have a baby, but all of their attempts will fail. Then Rosemary and her husband Guy decide to move to Bremford to change the situation. In the new house, they quickly get to know neighbors who intrusively offer their company and friendship.
Soon, Rosemary has a dream in which her husband, obsessed with the devil, rapes his wife. After a few days, the girl finds out that she is pregnant, and begins to rank her neighbors as a satanic cult.
7. From dusk to dawn | 1995
The film is the famous Robert Rodriguez, starring in which George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino.
The story of the film revolves around two brothers who rob a bank, and then, hiding from the police, they take the priest and his family hostage.
Having escaped to the American border, the brothers decide to spend the night in the nearest motel, but they only catch the eye of the bar. In the bar, a bloodthirsty action begins, when one of the brothers decides to start a fight with the regulars of the institution.
6. Misery | 1990
Another film based on the eponymous work of Stephen King. The main roles in the film were played by the inimitable Katie Bates and James Caan.
Caan played a writer, Paul Sheldon, who was known for tales of the Misery girl. However, the image of Misery was so annoying to the writer that in the last book he kills his character in order to start a new story with interesting characters for him.
One day, Sheldon gets into a strong snowstorm and crashes in his car. He regains consciousness in an unfamiliar house, but does not remember how and who saved him.
The owner of the house, Annie Wilks, is a longtime fan of Sheldon's books, and most of all she loved the heroine Misery, whom the writer had recently killed in her book.
5. Dracula | 1992
This film can be considered a cult only because of the cast: Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins and Keanu Reeves.
The events of the film take place at the end of the 19th century and tell the viewer about the young couple. Jonathan loves his bride very much, but is forced to temporarily leave her because of work in Transylvania. After all, a certain Count Dracula wants to acquire housing in London, and Jonathan, as a young lawyer, agrees to advise him.
Of course, the viewer knows perfectly well who the famous count is, however, Jonathan does not even guess who he will have to meet soon.
4. A nightmare on Elm Street | 1984
This film is scary even with one of its ideas: to be locked in your own dream and try to escape from the bloodthirsty maniac in it. Even rare nightmares affect the human psyche, what can we say about constantly repeating scary dreams?
High school students are haunted by a dream in which a disfigured person is chasing them and trying to kill. Soon, students understand that if a maniac kills them in a dream, they will die in reality. Children have only a few sleepless nights to figure out how to escape from the maniac pursuing them.
3. Radiance | 1980
Stephen King, Stanley Kubrick and Jack Nicholson are a good set for creating a cult horror movie. And therefore, even after 40 years, the scenes from this film make the blood freeze.
The story develops on the territory of a secluded hotel, where Jack Torrens comes to work as a caretaker. Together with Jack, his wife and son move into the hotel.
Torrance is sure that he had never seen this hotel before, and even more so he never lived in it. However, the nightmare reality soon greatly surprises the man.
2. Sleepy Hollow | 1999
The director of "Sleepy Hollow" is Tim Burton, and the main role in the film is played by Johnny Depp.
The story tells of the small town of Sleepy Hollow, in which a series of mysterious murders began. All the victims are beheaded by the sword of the headless horseman, and Ikabod Crane needs to find the killer. Of course, before making sure that the headless horseman is not a local fairy tale, but a real terrible reality.
1. Alien | 1979
As you know, in outer space absolutely no sound is heard. And therefore the slogan of the film evokes horror, claiming that in space no one will hear our cries.
The time period of the film is a distant future in which people travel freely through space with scientific expeditions.
